Instead of birthday parties for the kids this year (they are 11 days apart) we decided to take a family vacation to Legoland. Coincidentally Legoland was celebrating their 20th birthday this year!
Day 1
Road Trip to San Diego!
We arrived, checked into our hotel and made our way back out. Tip: Avoid Legolands super expensive rooms and stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites in Carlsbad for their super cool jungle themed room for kids with bunk beds, separate bathrooms and children area.
I heard great things about a buffet inside the Legoland Hotel called Bricks so we headed over there for dinner.
The hotel was so cool! We walked around, played in the pirate ship and built Lego.
“Look ema, I made you a heart!”
Tip: if you download the Legoland app and check in an hour before the park closes, you get 50% off your dinner at Bricks. Woot woot!
We sat down for dinner and had the best time!! They had so many healthy and yummy food options! They also had all the kids food on a low buffet table. Perfect for my independent kiddos.
Prior to dinner we told the servers we were celebrating both of our kids birthdays. So for dessert they brought out two mini cupcakes for each kiddo and grabbed a couple of servers for a birthday song. How sweet!
Can’t wait to go back!
On the weekends, The Legoland hotel hosts dance parties, so after dinner we headed over to check it out.
I love my little dance partner! Hubby and Sarah opted out of the fun.
Jacob had the best time!!
Back in our rooms, showered and ready for bed.
Day 2
We hit the hotel’s breakfast buffet and then made our way to Legoland!
We had such a fun day! Some rides were geared towards ages 3-5, perfect for Jacob and other rides were geared towards the 6-13 age range, perfect for Sarah.
Mid afternoon we stopped for lunch at Burger Stop and then sat down to watch a show near by.
After the show we got to join the Birthday Dance Party with a couple of the figurines.
Sarah’s favorite section was the Heartlake City featuring the Friends characters.
Also a favorite was all the water rides and splash pad. Tip: Bring a towel and change of clothes.
Our favorite ride was the Ninjago Ninja Training ride! Not only was it a perfect 4 passenger ride for my family but that’s where we learned there is a character called Kai just like my cutie nephew.
We ended the day with a visit to Castle Hill for Legoland’s world famous apple fries, but unfortunately we were too late and the shop was closed. Boo!
We stopped at Italian Pizza and Pasta (in Miniland) for the most amazing pasta I have ever had! They make fresh pasta on location, everyday! So good! Highly recommend if you are looking for a sit down restaurant.
After dinner, we stopped at the shops for the kids birthday gifts. Jacob loved the wall of bricks.
We had the best time! Can’t wait to come back soon!!
A few tips, most of the longer wait rides have wrap around lines where the kids can play with community Lego while the parents wait in line. Genius! My kids loved it and so did we!!
