Last week Sarah started her first week of kindergarten!!!
A few days before school started we were invited to a meet and greet at her school. Sarah was given a cubby, a school bag, met the teacher and drew a picture of herself. We also got to take a fun picture with the First Day of Kindergarten sign.
The night before school we had everything set up and ready to go.
Sarah’s school does not allow kindergartners to carry backpacks. Instead they are given blue reusable bags with the school logo (I turned it around for this post) and a place for them to write their name.
Sarah also got to pick out an outfit for the special day. She picked a tutu skirt with pom poms and a shirt with polka dots. Target for the win!We started our morning a little slow with pop tarts and milk. Sarah wanted to make her own sign so I told her the letters and she wrote this. Like previous years, I bought her a sign on Etsy to capture the day. Sign can be purchased here.
Hubby had an early job this day so he wasn’t there to keep us on track. Next thing I know school starts in 5 minutes and we haven’t even left! S%&T!!!
We rushed to school, but parking was a nightmare. Between finding a spot, unbuckling Jacob, grabbing Sarah’s bags and flicking Sarah’s pop tart (I didn’t need anyone judging us on the first day of school) out of her hand we made a mad dash into the school only to be stopped by the teacher who told us we needed to go to the office to check in and pick up a late pass.
S%&T!!!
It’s now 15 minutes after the bell has rung and we are finally reunited with her classroom who was sitting outside by the playground while the principal spoke into a microphone. Pheww I could breathe!
It turns out there was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the kindergartens new playground (it’s all new to me so I just clapped along).
After the ceremony we hugged, kissed and I wished her an awesome first day.
The teacher grabbed her hand and off she went.
I can’t believe I have a kindergartner!
