Between the many Jewish and American holidays we celebrate, Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite! I LOVE Vday! It’s a holiday all about love, what could be better? No matter who is a part of your life there is at least one person you love. Pink and red, my favorite colors happen to be holiday colors.
Vday started with a potluck at the park with my mommy friends. I made Red Velvet Cupcakes with Strawberry Shortcake frosting.
To make this cupcake I made a batch of regular red velvet cupcakes. Then I sliced the muffin top. Spread Strawberry Shortcake frosting on each cupcake. Used a small cookie cutter to form a heart shape on each muffin top. Finally, I placed the muffin top back onto to the cupcake and ta da!
A few days later I spent the evening with my friend Jessica and her family. I made a Red Velvet Cheesecake Ball and served them with Nilla wafers.
For school I brought Sandwiches on whole wheat bread with strawberry cream cheese for the toddlers and Red Velvet Cheesecake Balls for the parents as I had a lot of dip left over from the night before.
Thanks to my obsession with Pinterest I no longer have trouble finding things to do. If only I had more time in the day, I would make a lot more of my pins.
At school the kids were asked to bring a Valentine for each kid in class. Thanks to Pinterest, I couldn’t just go to Target and buy a package of premade cards. However, I didn’t want to go overboard with the all Pins I had found. After searching Pinterest for a few minutes I found an affordable DIY Valentine. I asked my cousin’s husband to make the bag topper and purchased the supplies.
I think it came out really cute!
I also decided the teacher should get her own Valentine. After a few more minutes on Pinterest I came up with a simple yet perfect Valentine made for her. Sensing a trend?
For dinner tonight, I plan on making Sweetheart Pizzas and heart shaped chocolate lava cakes.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
