Growing up with fruit trees in my parents backyard, I knew I wanted a garden of my own one day.
There is nothing tastier then fresh fruit and veggies you can pick from your backyard.
However, our first home had a covered patio and our home now has a concrete patio.
Thanks to my friend at Gardening Squared we have figured out a solution. She made this beautiful raised bed for our patio.
Check out her work here.
Hubby and I took the kids one afternoon to a nursery to pick out the goods.
We came home and planted our little garden. We were all so very excited!
Here is what we bought:
Romaine lettuce
Cucumbers
2 types of tomatoes
Strawberries
Onion (home experiment) Week 1 Update
After just 1 week our strawberries and our tomato plants were staring to flower. Our lettuce was producing more then we could eat and our onion was growing tall.
I absolutely love growing romaine lettuce! I pick a few leaves everyday for lunch.
The best part about lettuce, you are encouraged to pick often so it can produce more. Best purchase ever!!
Our cucumbers are moving slowly :( A new leaf has grown, but that’s it. Hoping they take off soon. 1 Month UpdateOur garden is really growing! We even have some strawberries turning red. Our cucumbers are looking sad. Any tips on what we should do? We love our garden box and can’t wait for our crop to produce.
Do you have a garden? What are some of your favorite things to grow?
